Your Favorite Injector

You were excited to get an appointment with your favorite injector and you have gone ahead with treatment. The injector explained that for fillers and neurotoxins final results take 2 weeks. There are things you may notice that concern you so here are some things you may see that you should not be concerned about. Some helpful tips/facts from our panel of providers.

Avoid exercising for 24 hours.

Swelling from filler takes 2 weeks to resolve and some areas may look a little uneven for the next 2 weeks. Antihistamines like Allegra and Claritin may help this resolve more quickly. It is also common to have more swelling in the morning and for swelling to resolve as the day progresses in the initial few days.

An eyebrow that seems “sparked”. If this doesn’t resolve in 10 -14 days, see your provider. This can happen and is easily fixable by adding a small amount of neurotoxin.

Lip Fillers

Love your lip filler, but please do not drink anything very hot or very cold or use a straw immediately after treatment. Also refrain from lip plumpers or fruity glosswear for at least 10 days. Hydrate your lips with Revision Youthful Lip Replinisher, Aquaphor or other products. See our expert’s lip product recommendations.

Pin prick marks and small bumps usually go away within a few hours. There is a risk of bruising, which will be temporary and can be easily covered with makeup. Take arnica tablets for a few days to help resolve the bruise once you have asked your doctor and made sure Arnica does not interfere with any medicines you are currently using. Some Medspa’s also offer a treatment by laser to resolve the bruise faster and this is also an option if needed.

Things Not to Do

Do not massage the injection site areas or have any facial rub/massage chiropractor or facial visits for 14 days following treatment.

Avoid sauna immediately after treatment.

Don’t schedule a dental appointment ( other than cleaning) for 2 weeks.

Avoid facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy-based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment. Please check with your physician before undergoing other facial treatments within this time.

Use Tylenol for pain relief if you experience a mild headache.

If any area remains warm to the touch, please call your injectable provider immediately.
