5 Sun Safety Tips for Skin and Overall Health

by Cure For Aging

Summer is coming and soon, it will be time to enjoy the warmth and sunshine! But it’s also important to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Here are 5 sun safety tips to help you stay safe and healthy while enjoying the great outdoors:

  1. Use sunscreen: Sunscreen is your first line of defense against the sun’s harmful UV rays. Make sure to choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and be sure to apply it to all exposed skin, including your face, ears, and the back of your neck. Remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours, or after swimming or sweating.
  2. Wear protective clothing: Wearing protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts and pants, can help to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Look for clothing made from UV-protective fabrics, or add UV-protective clothing to your wardrobe.
  3. Seek shade during peak hours: The sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. During these hours, try to stay in the shade as much as possible. Bring an umbrella, wear a wide-brimmed hat, or seek out natural shade under a tree or other shelter.
  4. Wear sunglasses: Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun’s UV rays. Look for sunglasses that block 99-100% of UVA and UVB rays.
  5. Hydrate: Make sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during hot summer days. Dehydration can lead to heat stroke, which can be dangerous and even life-threatening.
